Meet My Boss

We had a fundraiser for the Diabetes Walk here at my work, and we had a contest to see who would wear a dress this past Friday. It was between a really beefy nurse, one of the RTs and of course the head administrator here. The administrator, Jeremy, won by a landslide (imagine that) and here are some SEXY pics of him. I am wondering if I really still have to respect him? It was fun and we raised a lot of money for a good cause.

I hate to break it to you Jeremy, but a pretty girl, you DO NOT make!

Dallas Weekend

Liza and her two oldest kids were raising money for the psoriasis walk in Dallas and I joined their team and we made a really fun weekend of it. Liza drove down Friday afternoon and we left Lubbock after I got off of work and were at our hotel by about 11 that night. We got up around 7:30 Saturday morning and went to the walk. It was fun and Liza won about $700 in prizes for raising just over $600 (pretty good deal). She was nice enough to share some of the loot with me and for that I am very grateful! We were very speedy 5k-ers so we were finished late morning and I decided it would be fun to go to Six Flags, and oddly enough, Jake and Riley thought that would probably be pretty fun too. We all agreed that it was the best/most tiring day EVER! Thanks guys for a really fun time!
This is a picture of part of the park that we were walking around, it was very beautiful.
The starting line...

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders came to sign autographs and encourage other pretty girls to become cheerleaders too (see Liza's blog for story)

Riley decided 5k was a little much and rode for quite a while, I think Liza logged at least a mile with 50 or 60 extra pounds in tow.
After that long, hard "walking", Riley had to refuel with chocolate donuts
Liza winning her loot

I'm not sure...but I thiiiink that someone is a little excited here

There must not be too many to choose from because this was a horrible ride! I actually have bruises from the bouncing and jerking. My ponytail came out also, it's no wonder there was not a line.
The obligatory character pics
More character pics
We did get to see Bugs Bunny before leaving which was pretty great!
It was the "Best of Texas" weekend at Six Flags and as you walked in there was this really old couple singing old country tunes and the kids really enjoyed them and they enjoyed the kids as well and sang most of a Johnny Cash song per Jake's request. We really had the Best Day Ever!
Thanks Guys!!!!!!

Disney Break-In

...Not as in criminal, but as in shoes. Ok, so here is the abbreviated timeshare story: For my graduation from pharmacy school, my parents got Garth and I a trip to Ft. Lauderdale via my uncle and aunt's timeshare. Long story short we ended up becoming timeshare owners. It is something we had talked about previously to make sure that we made vacationing with our family a priority so we decided to take the plunge. We have just recently decided to really embrace it and we are taking LOTS of trips for "free" soon. In May we are doing our first big Disney trip with the family (which is where our timeshare's 'home base' is), my parents and Garth's as well as my cousin Jeni and her family are going together (also I think a few others are going to coordinate Disney trips at the same time as well). We have booked the presidential suite at our resort and Garth and I wanted to check it out before we all go in May. So last weekend we went from Thursday to Sunday and it was incredible!!! I didn't want to post a lot of pictures of the resort because I really want it to be a suprise to the family when we go. I have NEVER stayed anywhere as amazing and we are on Disney property and can see every fireworks show from our room, not to mention a water park on-site and numerous pools and a pretty awesome activities program for the kids (and adults). It made us very excited for May, it is going to be a LOOOOONG wait, but I am sure it will be worth it.

We stayed in pretty much the bottom rung of rooms and it was very impressive, this was the bathroom: jacuzzi tub for 2, there was this vanity and another vanity in the toilet room, which you can't see from this picture, but it was huge, all granite tiles and countertops. In May we have gotten the Presidential Suite that is the nicest room they have at this resort. We were able to see one and it was unbelievable.

This was our bed, it was very comfy!

This was the living area that was off of the kitchen and bar area, there was also a full sized dining table that had places and chairs for 8, out the window is the lake the resort is built on and a really awesome fountain.

We took one day and went to Daytona Beach, it was about an hour drive and it was very worth it. It did end up costing us more than planned, although the beach was free, a wave came and knocked my prescription sunglasses into the water and they were not to be found or washed ashore. Oh well, it really was worth it and there is probably a fish or lobster or something that can now see for the first time.

Garth and I had such a blast, we were there all day just playing in the surf. You can drive on the beach at Daytona and there were lots of families with coolers and umbrellas having picnics. I think this is something we will definately have to do when we come in May, but we are getting boogie boards next time, for sure.

Garth Le's 4th Birthday--with Pictures

Garth Le painted this birthday boy shirt on his actual birthday and we went to play at 50th Street Caboose and had a birthday ice cream and singning and lots of games.

Yummy!!!

I bought a pre-iced sheet cake with the blue and grey around the edges and I freehanded the Blue and the ruff ruff, which of course meant Happy Birthday, and I think it came out pretty well if I do say so myself.

We also made cookies together, it wasn't until after they were all done and we were watching Blue's Clues that I noticed that there are actually 4 toes, but I don't think anyone noticed and we had a lot of fun making them.

Before the party started, Garth Le got to do his handprint and birthday on the wall of the Jumpin' Jungle where we had the party, this was arguably his favorite part.

Of course there was a football game on, so my husband and father were more than pleased to stop pretending like it was OK to miss it when they figured out there was a TV with it on at the party.

Big, bouncy slide, a 4 year old's dream come true

The blowing of the candle

Blue frosting...always a fun choice with kiddos

Aunt Sarah and Bubbe, always excited to get pictures taken of them while eating cake...blue cake

Garth Le made quite a haul, Thanks Everyone!!!!

Scouts

Garth and I were called this summer to be the Wolf leaders at church. Now Garth has had a lot of scouts callings since we have been together and I have always helped, but this is the first time I have been officially called to be a leader with him. I have to say that I really didn't know what to expect. I LOVE our scouts, we have great boys! The wolves are the kids just getting into Cub Scouts so they are 8 years old and they haven't developed the "too cool for school" attitude yet and we just have so much fun. I am officially a scout nerd, I already ordered my uniform from the scout office online and I can't wait to get it. This week we did marshmallow olympics where we saw who could kick, throw and spit a large marshmallow the furthest. Then, of course, we had to see who could fit the most in their mouths without chewing, swallowing or puking (gotta love boys). You would not believe it but our smallest scout (not counting Garth Le) who is probably lighter than Garth Le and maybe 2 inches taller fit 6 large marshmallows in his mouth and we only stopped because that made him win, he probably could have gotten 2 more in there, it was shocking! I just love our boys and I am very excited about how this calling is going to help us and how excited Garth Le is about being a part of scouts. He insisted that he had a wolf book just like the other boys and we are trying to hold out on the uniform, but I think we are fighting a losing battle. As far as he is concerned he is just one of the scouts. He is very serious about it too, I love it! I have pictures to download and blog about the last month of events, and I will and all one of my readers will be very excited!
